Cloth simulation

Beitrag von Simon »

I tried 3 ways to do a cloth simulation in Max:

1. SimCloth (old Plugin)
2. reactor Cloth
3. Cloth (ClothFx)

The essence of my work is:

SimCloth has a perfect collission detection, but the cloth didn't look nice. It feels to stiff. Maybe i didn't set the correct configuration.

reactorCloth (thats also the name of the modifier) has perfect collission deteection and looks very nice in animation. But you are not able to bake the keys so it's useless if you wan't tu use the animation in a game. You can't grab the keys directly, that's what the reactor Help says.

Cloth (thats also the name of the modifier) looks very nice too, but you have to be carefull with the options! You are able to setup a "offset" and a "deph". If these values are to small or to high, the cloth will "cut" the collission object! It's depending on your scene size!

The best thing: it's very easy to bake the keys of the animation!

Remué: The Cloth modifier gave me the best result but you have to poke around with the offset/deph values.
